Beauty tip; food to avoid for your skin

-.Get rid of sugars and honey

Sugars accelerate the aging process of the skin because they produce insulin - stimulating - an aging hormone. Moreover sugars (such as glucose, but fructose from fruit) with the collagen in your skin react. Again with aging result. Even natural sugars (such as Honey) have the same result! A smoothie a day won't keep your wrinkles away!

-Artificial sweeteners

Sweeteners with no calories are made to let your brain believe you're having sugar. Result? Your body will produce insulin anyway, even when it is not needed. With the same effect ==> wrinkles!

- Brown rice will give you wrinkles

That whole grains are better for your body than their 'white variants', is already known. But are they as healthy for your skin? Starches, the carbohydrates in grains, are basically long chains of sugar molecules that are broken down by the body and used as fuel. Starches are broken down more slowly than sugars, but have the same aging effect on your skin.
==> so for people who avoid carbohydrates: hoorah, but for me .... I'm such a carbohydrate-lover :(
So when you eat a lot of lentils, it's kind of the same story.


- Antioxidants

On your beautiful-skin-menu: vegetables in all colors of the rainbow. Dark green vegetables - think: broccoli and kale - are the best for your skin. Starchy tuber vegetables such as parsnips and turnips are to avoid because they make your blood sugar rise faster than a spoonful of sugar.

- Eat more fat

It is clear: especially sugars are culprits for your skin. (Un) saturated fatty acids don't do so much harm, studies show that fats make our skin more elastic and counters wrinkles , especially coconut-fats.

- Drink wine

Fancy a glass? Choose your aperitif or nightcap than wise. A dry, red wine, contains little sugar and is and is rich in resveratrol - a "miracle ingredient" which is also used in anti wrinkle creams.
